By the way, to correct you, gay marriage is not a violation of the first amendment. "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion(Amend. I)." So in fact, the lack of discrimination laws on tgs/gays and the refusal to allow gay marriage are actual violations of the first amendment. This means that no law made for a religious group that infringes upon the rights of others should be made legal. Where are you getting your research and information?

I never said it would go away, your making up things I didnt say. I said attendance in some places in the western world especially are diminishing. Christianity has been around for centuries upon centuries, it would be silly to say that it would go away. And I certainly would never want to see that happen either.

The purpose of marriage has changed many times from multiple partners to a mere transaction of wealth between families to protect each other to a marriage between people of the same race and ethnicity. Not every couple has kids, its not their responsibility to do so. There are too many kids without parents or good parents in the world. Adoption is a great function for gay or straight couples who want to have kids and can't physically.

your then one that's closed minded..my God wants me to warn ppl of sin against Him for their own sake. What does it profit a person if they gain the whole world but loses their soul?

Btw, I'm Catholic, the truest faith of Christianity, The rest of them are just off shoots and amended versions of Catholicism. So I know what I'm taking about. We go through the actual consecration and transfiguration of the body and blood of Christ. I don't need to be preached upon what you think God wants. I've had 16 years of Catholic school, never once was I told to go out there and discriminate and tell people who they can marry or do with their lives! Never once!

You can be friends with people and not agree with their lifestyle. Yes, thats true, but how good of a friend are you being when you vote against your friend's life. What kind of a friend is that? And telling them that you're trying to protect from breaking God's law and evil, I'm sure will just make everything better.

I'm not saying anyone should change their faith or that for instance Churches should conduct or condone gay marriage. I'm willing to concede that point easily, nobody should infringe upon religious rights. But remember, marriage is a religious and non-religious function. If there is not separation between church and state in this country, then what have we become, Iran? Theres danger in theocracies, just like there is danger in govt religious repression too.

they have jobs. so doen't even go there. There's a law to protect them from discrimination.
mallory234 (January 1, 2009 at 11:27 am)
Also, the laws that are in place are very flimsy and are not applicable everywhere. Mostly in cities, it is still not present on some state levels and on a federal level.
"They have jobs", first off how do you know? How well acquainted are you with this community? I'm not saying thats incorrect, but how much do you really know about the glbt community. While I'm well acquainted with both sides and communities. I have much more religious education than the average person, I assure you.
